January 27, 2011 / Doom 2: Hell on Earth
Author: James "Phobus" Cresswell Release Date: April 2nd 2006

Introduction

Recently gave a read through of my older review as I have been taking an interest in going back to some maps I played in the past. I started to wonder what it was I found so difficult in the first place, and because of this forgetfulness, I thought it was time to give it another visit – some years later. White Light was originally intended for a brightness contest which never took off, and clearly sticks with that goal in mind. Let’s see how it went a second time.

Introduction
It’s rare to see singleplayer map releases for this game and I thought Sock’s Edge of Forever would be one of the last for a very long while, so it’s nice to be greeted with something new to feast on and see what else has been presented, despite the limitations present in Quake 3 to do this. Lo Sota Olt was the only entry into ..::LvL’s Experimental Singleplayer Contest. It’s a bit of a shame that more interest wasn’t taken. Read on to see how it fares.

There are two different modes of play, from your regular shotgun start or a ‘Carnage-mode’ changing the play style to add that little bit of replay value.

Saw this little oldie from ’97 after it was mentioned on MSDN. Takes place within a city, with the usual locations. It’s only a short map, takes around ten or so minutes to blast through. Here’s my final thoughts.

Takes place within a series of canyons and caverns, all connecting up to a central location. A red-stone medieval structure, fallen to ruin by nature, while presenting a fresh look to an Elderworld theme. Beware of the lava that flows through, waiting to claim its next victim.
