Gameplay
Rural Nightmare has a very scary feel with some unique effects to scare you, like the overlord watching you from outside the house and the hand that gives you some ammo. The introduction is good and the scenes are good. Once you get to the main area, it becomes more scary, especially with the overlord chasing you. The map has plenty of scary moments, with enough health and ammo to keep you going. Enemy balance is good. Fight with overlord is easy but fighting the queen is a bit hard. Sounds used were picked well too.
Design
Top notch and where Aymeric’s true style comes in. Heavy detailed spritework, although windows were a bit too bright since it gave a “wierd” feeling to me, and could of been slightly darker. Texturing is good and some are mixed well with others. The elevator in one part was too slow, which was annoying. Enemy placement is good, and so was ammo and health.
Overall Conclusion
A good map from Aymeric, although, not really my favorite.
