Another year gone by so quickly, but here we are in 2012. I’m updating earlier than planned but I thought posting up this update wouldn’t hurt, after it being so close to the new year’s coming. Normal uploads should hopefully resume next week. Read on for a few small updates.
Just before Christmas, I bought and put together a new system since it was about time I replaced my old stuff and start from scratch. I feared half of my older games wouldn’t run well, but surprisingly, I’ve had no major issues getting them to work. I even got a new 22″ monitor, running games at 1920×1080, to replace the old CRT and also get more space on my desk. I don’t plan to throw away the CRT though. The specs and components below for those interested;
- Case: Corsair Carbide 400R
- Board: Asus P8P67-M
- CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz
- Card: ATI Radeon 6950 2048MB
- RAM: Corsair 8GB 1600MHz DDR3
- PSU: Corsair Builder Series CX 600W
- Fan: Zalman CNPS11X Extreme
- OS: Windows 7 Professional 64bit
- SSD: OCZ Agility 3 Series 60GB (For Windows)
- Monitor: Asus VE228H 22″ Widescreen LED
Due to the above, there may be a small chance that screenshot sizes may change in upcoming reviews for many games, from a resized 4:3 resolution to a resized 16:9 resolution. I usually stick to a width of 800px when saving them, but I may consider going for a larger size since I’m starting to feel that screenshots might now be too small on these larger resolutions. We’ll see. Feel free to post your thoughts.
I might make a seperate post for this later, but for now I’m throwing it here. I’m looking for Red Faction singleplayer levels to archive on my system, but I’m having difficulty. I’ve already grabbed everything I could from this site, but the majority of them used to be hosted on Levels4you, yet stopped sometime in August last year if I remember correctly. I’d post on the forums or contact the admin, but the captcha seems to be broken. If anyone has any suggestions or know where I can grab these files, please post here or through Email (about page).
congrats on the new system! what a monster.
Hey man. That new system looks hot! I’d say do bigger screenshots if they don’t break the layout or anything. This website doesn’t take long to load, so some slightly larger pictures won’t make a big difference.
