Four levels explore environments Inspired by Bauhaus fine art and architecture, layouts designed with fun in mind which in turn dictates how enemy positioning is handled. MAP04 quickly became my favourite for its non-linear gameplay alone.

GOING DOWN is an excellent megawad and has become an all time favourite release. Themes, visuals and gameplay elements are diverse across all 32 maps and comes with a distinctive soundtrack. High enemy counts wasn’t the only driving factor that made combat difficult, but mouldy’s own understanding how to pressure players and manipulate them into unwanted situations, which comes across as a signature style in my eyes.
Lutz presents a gorgeous level focused around grand set pieces and well paced enemy encounters. Despite the linear progression ICEBOUND still offers several memorable scenarios differing between each area, some trickier to accomplish than others. There is plenty of variety to be had with gripping combat and pretty visuals all round. Time well spent!
The first part of the Monster Hunter Ltd. series creates an effective dark industrial ambience while creating an interconnected sense of flow during various combat encounters.
MOHU2 is a good continuation with a new theme, retaining great visuals and presenting tighter combat encounters. While it does lack some strengths its prequel offers for ambience and dynamic layouts, this wad is still an engaging sequel.
Simplistic in design and largely scaled by nature, RUNBUDDY won’t be a challenging experience on HMP due to the open arena, so it would be advised to jump straight in UV for those who seek one. The wad is otherwise an enjoyable romp that throws a lot of spice to keep combat varied.
